Job Summary:

This position leverages I-CAR’s extensive expertise in training instructors to deliver specialized automotive collision repair topics. It is aimed toward a individual eager to develop the skills and experience needed to conduct training and deliver I-CAR specialty programs focused on mechanical, electrical, and technology topics within the automotive collision repair industry. Training areas include Air Conditioning (AC), Vehicle Alignment, Supplemental Restraint Systems (SRS), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Electric Vehicles (EV).

 

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop the skills and experience necessary to deliver hands-on training programs to the inter-industry audience.
  • Assist instructional staff with the setup and teardown of training workshops, as well as the regular maintenance of equipment, tools, and training aids.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the operation of multiple OEM-approved equipment and tools.
  • Maintain the training schedule calendar and provide support by answering questions related to class schedules, delivery, and travel arrangements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of event results following training sessions, including the submission of all necessary supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the procurement and/or consignment of specialty tools and equipment as needed.
  • Support Repairability Technical Support (RTS) activities, including research, documentation, review, and distribution of technical information.
  • Learn to operate specialty training equipment and provide maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Contribute to the design and development of new course content and the enhancement of existing training materials.

 

Skills and Aptitudes:

  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and I-CAR database (ex. Filemaker)
  • Critical thinking, decision-making skills and problem analysis and solutions ability.
  • Verbal communication skills.
  • Framing communication toward specific audiences and diverse leaning styles.
  • Understanding of collision repair procedures and technology.

 

Experience and Education:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of Hands-On automotive repair experience.

Desired

  • Any work experience as a collision repair mechanical/electrical technician
  • Any work experience or formal education in skilled trades.
