Position Summary: The Social Worker Contractor position is a two-year part-time hourly role not to exceed 30 hours a week that will support I-CAR's education and entry-level work through virtual participant and partner support at both schools and repair center partners in the state of Illinois. This individual will work as a key member of a cross functional team accountable for a new strategic endeavor by I-CAR. This initiative will address the critical shortage of technicians in the collision repair inter-industry and help to ensure the safety and well-being of over 30 million drivers on the road.
The individual in this two-year part-time role has an exciting opportunity to both directly support participants in work settings and staff in school settings through service delivery and program administration. Through these efforts, this individual will contribute to building a new initiative within our organization from the ground up with support from team members and a supervisor. A strong applicant will bring significant experience in supporting participants with activities like evaluation, individual plan development, and making referrals to third party programs and services. Additionally, this individual will be able to support partner organization staff in understanding the program offered and how staff can best support participants in succeeding. This unique position within a 501(c)(6) will enable the right professional to gain experience within our industry while driving a mission with the potential for significant social impact.
Work Schedule: M-F 10AM-3PM CST (There may be flexibility on these hours depending on the candidate's location).
Essential Job Functions:
- Commit to ongoing education regarding Registered Apprenticeship Programs and other programs offered by I-CAR
- Serve as the designated social worker for participants and organizations participating in educational and workforce development activities through I-CAR in Illinois
- Create written communication products for use by participants and/or organizational staff that enable them to best access program activities and services
- Create and/or adapt evaluation materials for participants that reflect workforce/education readiness, interests, and needs
- Limited case management of participants related to evaluations
- Maintain participant records and plans that reflect evaluations
- Serve as subject matter expert for social work-related services and programming
- Communicate with state agencies when needed to ensure programmatic alignment with requirements
- Commit to becoming literate in the social work issues related to our mission and new strategic endeavor
- Collaborate with the Registered Apprentice Program director at I-CAR to ensure alignment across our program in Illinois
- Manage and contribute to a database regarding case management and reporting in Illinois
- Collaborate with members of the Product team and key project members across all teams to ensure alignment of activities
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant area like social work, psychology, or education
- At least three years of relevant work experience in social work related to providing participants in education and/or workforce development program with case management
- At least two years of experience of providing organizational staff with recommendations for delivering support to participants
